چکیده

An overview of the transformation electromagnetics/optics design technique is presented. Illustrative example designs for invisibility cloaks, beam control devices, lenses as well as applications to radiation problems are shown. Quasi-conformal transformations in two dimensions and their applications to cloaks and virtual arrays are discussed.

Guiding light with conformal transformations.

The past decade has seen a revolution in electromagnetics due to the development of metamaterials. These artificial composites have been fashioned to exhibit exotic effects such as a negative index of refraction. However, the full potential of metamaterial devices has only been hinted at. By combining metamaterials with transformation optics (TO), researchers have demonstrated an invisibility c...

Ray Techniques in Electromagnetics GEORGES

Absfracf-The principles of ray optics and, in more detail, some selected applications of ray techniques to electromagnetic8 are reviewed briefly. It is shown how a systematic use of matrix representation for the wavefront curvature and for its transformations simplify the handling of arbitrary pencils of rays and, consequently, the field computations. The same methods apply to complex rays whic...

Hiding an elephant into a matchbox with transformation optics

Based on transformation optics‎, ‎we propose an illusion device that can make‎ ‎objects look much smaller and different than they actually are‎. ‎In particular‎, ‎the device has a capability to hide a large object (like an elephant) into a‎ ‎small one (like a matchbox)‎. ‎Compared to previous proposals for illusion‎ ‎devices‎, ‎there is no requirement for negative refractive index or for spee...

The Sturm-liouville-transformation for the Solution of Vector Partial Differential Equations

Partial differential equations (PDEs) are the conventional tool for the description of timeand space-dependent physical phenomena. Vector PDEs arise from the physical analysis of multidimensional (MD) systems in terms of potential and flux quantities. Expressing the resulting coupled PDEs in vector form facilitates the direct formulation of boundary and interface conditions in their physical co...

Experimental demonstration of a bilayer thermal cloak.

Invisibility has attracted intensive research in various communities, e.g., optics, electromagnetics, acoustics, thermodynamics, dc, etc. However, many experimental demonstrations have only been achieved by virtue of simplified approaches due to the inhomogeneous and extreme parameters imposed by the transformation-optic method, and usually require a challenging realization with metamaterials. ...
